INTERFAITH MEDITATION FELLOWSHIP |
|
|
|
MISSION |
|
Interfaith Meditation Fellowship is dedicated to creating a
time and place where people from different faith traditions might join in
meditation for the advancement of both our own well-being and the well-being
of our world. We strive to be an all-inclusive, non-sectarian, welcoming
fellowship where people may come for acceptance, healing, and support for
their personal spiritual journey toward wholeness. While we do not affirm a
particular religious doctrine, the meditative practices we offer tend to reflect
the common understanding found within most religious traditions, that there
is a fundamental goodness underlying all life, that is revealed through the
meditative experience. While the
sessions are led by Brenda Cole or another group member, we recognize that we
all are teachers and students for each other and welcome attendees to speak
from their meditative experiences. Our
sessions typically include silent and guided meditation, reflection on topics
relevant to meditation practice, listening and sharing from the heart, and
time to laugh and enjoy one another. |

LEADERSHIP |
|
|
|
IMF is a
peer led fellowship under the guidance of Brenda Cole, PhD. Brenda has
practiced meditation for more than twenty years, influenced by a wide range
of traditions including Hindu, Buddhist, Christian, and New Age. She is a
Buddhist, within the Nyoshul Khenpo lineage, currently studying with Lamas
Surya Das and John Makransky. She has conducted spirituality workshops and
retreats for various organizations for the past 15 years. Her work as a
licensed psychologist also informs the teachings she offers at IMF. For
nearly ten years she has worked with cancer patients integrating meditation
in their care and conducting meditation based research at the University of
Pittsburgh Cancer Institute. Through her own experiences and clinical work,
Brenda has developed a unique ability to help people develop meditation
practices compatible with their own religious beliefs. Her warm and at times
humorous style invites participants to gently explore ways that meditation
might enhance their spiritual lives and foster an awareness of the common
ground of being that underlies our religious diversity. |
